The inspiring stories shared by the teachers overseeing our Mathletes programs highlight the profound impact it’s having on students. To protect privacy, all names have been changed, but the positive outcomes remain real and powerful.
The stories of four students and one student coach from our Math is Cool program truly capture the positive, academically-driven, and relationship-focused environment we cultivate within our teams. To safeguard privacy, names have been changed, but the impact and success are real.

Math performance in our community begins to decline as early as fourth grade. By high school, only 36% of students are performing at grade level in math. Alarmingly, fewer than 25% of college students who require remedial courses in math or English go on to declare a major and graduate. Research shows that confidence and a positive attitude toward math greatly influence students' skills and their willingness to pursue advanced math courses throughout their education. Opting for higher-level math classes opens doors to high-paying STEM careers, which Idaho desperately needs to fill.
By building math confidence early, we can help students seize these opportunities and thrive in the growing STEM landscape.
